Though the famous Moto G was released in 2014 in India, it was globally released in 2013 thus making it Moto G (2013). This time the new version of Moto G or so called the upgrade for the previous one is released in India along with other countries considering the demand and market they have gained here. The upgraded version is termed as Moto G (2nd Gen.) or Moto G (2014) . I have already made a post discussing about it when its specifications were leaked online. You can find the post here. The rumors of the specifications and the reality did not differ much. Seeing the present budget range market in India with the competitors like Xiaomi MI3, Asus Zenfone 5 and especially Xiaomi Redmi s, which has almost the same specs as Moto G at half of its price, its difficult to say how the Moto G (2nd Gen.) would do in the market.
After the super launch of Moto G and its success, a lot of smart phone enthusiasts were waiting for the launch of Moto G sequel. Similar to the way Google released Nexus 5 as a successor to Nexus 4 and reached everyone’s expectation of hardware upgrade in all the terms, there are expectations on Motorola too about its next launch in Moto G series. There were rumors that the new version of Moto G would be of 4.7″ screen. Some even spread a rumor that, the new version of Moto G would be Nexus’s next launch. Breaking all the rumors, recently the 2nd Generation Moto G (or may be Moto G2) has paid a visit to GFX benchmarks. In the GFX website we could get an overview of some physical and internal features. As soon as the specifications of Xiaomi MI3 and Asus Zenfone phones along with the launching dates in India were out, the hot topic among most of the smart phone users & buyers is which would be the best choice in the budget range of 10-20K. For almost 5 months, Moto G has totally captured the market of budget android phone in India. Though we can say that MI3 and Zenfone 5 had good startup sales and demand, we cannot say they have surpassed the craze of Moto G launch. One reason might be that, at the time of Moto G launch, it was the clear winner and only option available for brand conscious ones. Now that there are 3 options with different positives and negatives comparable, the buyer gets trapped in a confusion about which one to take. If the buyer is specific about his/her requirements, the choice would be easier, but it is not as simple as it seems as all the three smart phones have head turner specifications.
